CRANES AND CLOUDS FROM A 12TH-CENTURY VASE

The pattern comes from a Goryeo maebyeong inlaid with cranes and clouds, made in the late 1100s. Cranes rise inside the round medallions and descend outside them — the caps keep that rhythm.
